The 3rd Annual Brandy Winfield Memorial Poker Run has passed and I am proud to report that a record crowd was on hand this year. With 609 motorcycles and over 1050 people on this years ride, the support from the Marion community, Ohio and the Midwest is a testament to the legacy that Deputy Brandy Winfield left behind. This year we will be able to donate over $12,000 to Tri-Rivers JVS – Law Enforcement Program & Ohio Concerns of Police Survivors – Youth Kids Camp program. The team that plans the annual ride each year is continually inspired to make this ride the best in the state of Ohio in honor of our Hero. We hope that everyone that participated had a great time and everyone will join us next year for the 4th Annual ride on June 7th, 2008.
I am very fortunate to have such a dedicated team that volunteers many hours to make this event what it is today. These individuals are the ones that deserve the thanks that I get to hear most often. There is no way that I am able to repay them for all they have given. The only thing I can offer them is my gratitude and heartfelt thanks for helping me honor my dear friend. A big “Thank You” to my staff: Karen Jerew, Dan Lehner, Missy Pierce, Chad Stallsmith, Stacey Webb, Greg Layne, Leslie Watters and Tim & Diane Tanner. Without their dedication, I would never be able to organize this event. You all are very special to me and my hats off to you for a job well done.
