For the fourth consecutive year the Annual Brandy Winfield Memorial Poker Run has produced a record crowd with 622 motorcycles and over 1100 people at this year’s event. I am amazed each year at the heartwarming generosity of the Marion community and many others throughout Ohio. Without this support, we would not be able to assist countless others in the manner that Deputy Sheriff Brandy Winfield exemplified throughout his life.
This year has been our most successful year to date. We are pleased to announce that this years total donation will be $24,000 to the Marion Safety City Program & Officer Cory Winfield & his wife, Lindsey as they work to restore their lives after a drunk driver nearly took Cory’s life on August 19th, 2007.
The many people that give their time to make this event what it is today, are continually inspired to show our appreciation to the many people in law enforcement that sacrifice so much so that we may be safe each and every day. There are many that have given the last full measure of devotion that we cannot personally thank for their service, but we can remember and honor them each and every year. We hope that everyone that participated had a great time and everyone will join us next year for the 5th Annual ride on June 6th, 2009.
To the people that come together to make Brandy’s ride what it is, a sincere “Thank You” from the bottom of my heart. I am very fortunate to have such a dedicated group of friends that donate so much of their time to make this event what it is today. These are the people that truly deserve all the “Thanks” & “Great Job” compliments that I get to hear often. I will never be able to repay them for all they have given. The only thing I can offer them is my gratitude and heartfelt thanks for helping me honor my dear friend.
